What is Essiac Tea?
With a fascinating past, Essiac tea is a herbal mixture that gained popularity through the efforts of Rene Caisse, a nurse who established a clinic in Bainbridge, Ontario, Canada, to assist cancer patients with the remedy. Although Caisse did not create the original blend, she became well-known for using it to help her patients after receiving it from a friend who claimed that it cured her breast cancer. The original formulation is believed to be a traditional Ojibwa remedy, but Caisse's work during the 1970s helped to popularize it. In addition to its purported anticancer properties, Essiac tea is also believed to enhance detoxification, boost immune function, and reduce inflammation.
Essiac tea is a blend of different herbs, including:
Blessed Thistle, Burdock Root, Kelp, Red Clover, Sheep Sorrel including the root, Slippery Elm Bark, Turkish Rhubarb Root and Watercress.
