Soursop, also known as graviola, is a fruit tree that grows in tropical regions. Soursop fruit and leaves have been traditionally used for various medicinal purposes, including as a natural treatment for cancer. Some studies have suggested that compounds found in soursop leaves, such as annonacin, may have anticancer properties. Despite ongoing efforts to tackle cancer, the disease remains one of the leading causes of death around the globe. Several therapies, including chemotherapy, have improved survival rates.
The effects of diet on cancer remain largely understudied, but early research suggests graviola could slow the spread of the disease. Other research suggests it may enhance the performance of traditional therapies, or selectively kill several types of cancer cells.
